The new addition to the ´Most Beautiful Village in Spain – Puentedey in Burgos province, in the region of Castile and León received its official accreditation as one of the ´Pueblos Más Bonitos de España.´
The Association of the Most Beautiful Villages of Spain´s newest member received its endorsement at the most important international tourism fair in Madrid – FITUR.
Puentedey has become one of the 105 beautiful towns and villages at a ceremony at the Turespaña stand at the exhibition.

During 2021 there were 22 municipalities that presented their candidacy, all were analysed, visited and audited but only one managed to overcome more than 40 criteria to be part of this ever-growing grouping of gorgeous place to visit. Pueblos Más Bonitos de España has become considered one of Spain Tourism´s most prestigious networks.
The Secretary of State for Tourism said “this demonstrates the degree of excellence that the association defends, considered by the Ministry as a select club, which has decided to reactivate rural Spain to be the Spain of solutions, a network of unstoppable quality that we have been supporting for years because of its importance when it comes to enhancing the value of the villages of Spain, it is the example to follow so that the recovery plans are a success”.

This lovely new addition to the existing 104 municipalities continues the work of recovering historical heritages, promoting knowledge, conservation, maintenance and tourism of these villages.
What Does it Take to be One of Spain´s Most Beautiful Villages
The Association was founded 11 years ago with the motto ´Quality before Quantity.¨ Many more villages could be and have applied to be in the association, but failed to be accepted. The want is that the villages work hard, make improvements and to put themselves on a par with the charming places that already exist in the network and that have many years of experience in tourism. In short, they seek excellence. That is why it is important for us and, above all, it is important for the credibility of a tourism product in
The Success of the Beautiful Villages Association
The tourism figures prove that being part of the network attracts visitors to the towns which grow year after year. There are many, many interesting and scenic towns and villages in Spain but if it´s part of this prestigious list you know it´s worth a visit.
