My first steps in those narrow cobbled streets of Córdoba´s old town, where the Mezquita rules and the Jewish Quarter thrives, were the beginning of my enchantment. Fortunately for me the city is only 75 minutes drive from home so when the Córdoba Patios Fiesta is on and when visitors come to stay its a must go to.

Plaza de la Corredera, Córdoba

A lot of day trips and many overnights stays yet here I am getting excited again about my forthcoming weekend jaunt. Potted plants, pretty patios, flamenco strains, the bustle and bars. The more I know it the more I like it. So with precious weekends between busy working weeks I have finally nailed how to make a weekend feel longer.

Cordoba Flower Patio

Heading off from work early, lunching en route to whatever destination (up to 2 hours max for a 1 night stay) and having the afternoon, evening and morning in a location, maybe lunch too or stopping on the journey back for lunch, then home for Saturday evening and all day Sunday. When Monday morning comes around I feel as if I´ve had a week off.

This trip we´re staying in the heart of the older part of the city, not in one of my usual choice – small, charming hotels but a large one with lots of rooms and a roof terrace bar. I´ll be writing about it soon. Which made me think of the lovely hotels we´ve stayed at in Córdoba before, so here they are.

Great Hotels in Córdoba Old Town – My Favourites

Hotel Balcon de Córdoba

Gorgeous, small hotel very close to the Mezquita. Very charming and friendly, pure Andalusian style with its cobbled, interior patio complete with tinkling fountain and shade-giving orange trees.

Hotel Casas de la Juderia

Located in the Jewish Quarter, close to the Mezquita this collection of once separate private houses has been melded into one fabulous and quite wacky hotel.

Hotel Viento 10

Minimalism meets ancient pillars in the cute hotel on the edge of the Jewish Quarter, near the River Guadalquivir. There´s no dining here but a great individual buffet plate for breakfast – my best for a long time. Really lovely, little owner run hotel with your own front door key.
