One of Malaga’s better hotels in a prime position with the port in front and the cathedral and historical district behind. A great spot to base yourself for shopping or to see the Christmas lights on Called Lario. It also has a unrivalled roof-top terrace with fabulous views across the port and Muello Uno, a small bar for drinks with glittering lights over the Mediterranean Sea and a swimming pool for daytime cooling off.

Even if you’re not staying at the hotel go up to the rooftop bar for a drink and those twinkling light views!

The location of the Palacio is ideal for exploring the old quarter and Malaga’s beaches and beachside restaurants.

The weekend of my stay in September was extremely busy with a function on the Friday night and a wedding on the Saturday night. Both nights access to the roof terrace was limited and the wait for the lifts (I didn’t fancy the stairs to the roof) was painful.

A pleasant 4★ hotel, far from luxurious both in upkeep and service, although I’d stay again for the location and roof terrace. It is really a base for exploring not for relaxing.

Update: I stayed at the AC again in February 2022 and found the standard of my room and the service far better than my original stay. For an overnighter in the centre of things it is a good choice.
